On January 2, 2010 I had a Sunset Hike to the Stone Living Room even with NNJC, a Geocaching Group from Northern New Jersey, most of whom are avid hikers. I was the event sponsor, so of course I had to come. Temps were 15 degrees, highest windgust we recorded was 70 MPH. About 30 people showed up.
I visited this again the following week, as I pre hiked the area before having a group hike here with my Geocaching group.
I remeber this one for the temp. It was 4 degrees when we started, my perspiration was freezing on the outside of my hat. Remains one of my favorites, left from Long Pond Ironworks, have bee back a few times.
Parking on Stevens Road, now right of gate, then P8, woods road to top. Permit Needed.
Came in from the back side on Kanouse Road.
Stateline and up.
I came in via the woods roads that start at the Hillburn Reservoir in Hillburn NY. They are visible on USGS Topo, and I had put GPS coordinates in unit. There is a fair amount of winding around clost to the area. Microwave tower on top was humming away the day I was there, came away feeling warm. I had placed a geocache not too far away. Farm ruins worth checking out below.
