Jenny Jump Mountain 2

So, no trail led to a challenging rock scramble with quick elevation gain. Looked south-east and decided on a south-west climb. Glad for a warm February day but hoping the rattlesnakes weren’t waking up. Some views looking east. Decided on a south-east decent and again a steep scramble.

Jenny Jump Mountain 1

After JJ2 - JJ1 was a pleasure!
Followed the Summit Trail up and had nice views east and west from the top. Sat on the bench ( who hauled this up here ! ) for a while and had a snack. Looking west towards the Kittatinny Ridge from the Gap to Yards Creek Reservoir to Catfish Tower to Millbrook road. That’s a nice hike too !
Returned on the Swamp Trail, steps built into a steep portion. A nice woods walk.
Thank you NY/NJ Trail Conference (?).

Jenny Jump Mountain 3

JJ 3&4 are linked, almost, by the Mountain Lakes trail. However both summits are only obtained by bushwhacking. There is a third “mountain” between JJ 3&4, unnamed (?) to climb as well.
Following the Mountain Lake Trail looping around the west side of the summit until the trail failed to gain any more elevation. Then just cut up the last 150’ elevation to the top.
In February, with out the leaves, the summit offers not much of a view. Nice walk though.
Following the line of sight to the next summit
(JJ 4) you dip down a few hundred feet then up to the unnamed summit. A bit of a scramble thru over grown terrain.

Jenny Jump Mountain 4

JJ4 summit is a open area offering beautiful forest views. No grand pinnacle or cliffs with expanding vistas.
Following a straight course to the top I crossed a couple woods trails but just held straight up on a simple course without the rock scrambles and fallen trees of JJ 2.
Found a rock cairn, added one rock and cleared out the leaves then moved on to another false summit to the SE. Fresh bear scat here. From this point I started northish down to the col and the stream to the Mountain Lake. Passing a few woods roads before crossing the blue trail which I followed down to the road and back to the parking area.
Nice day 5 peaks !
