Made it to the peak to the southwest of Terrace Pond. This is the true location of the summit according to the NJGWS Technical Memororandum 17.1 Highest Elevation By County in New Jersey. The true summit is off trail. It was a thick but short bushwhack to get there. These is a small cairn on top (picture attached). I also saw a rattle snake, a black rat snake, a gray tree frog, and numerous newts and green frogs.
Make it to summit approximately 1/2 mile northeast of viewpoint on top.
I parked along the side of East Shore Road, then crossed the bridge over the Wanaque River to a woods road running along the southeast side of the base of the mountain. I then bushwhacked up the southeast side of the mountain. It was very steep but was short. Along the way up I found a pretty good viewpoint looking east towards Big Beach Mountain and south towards the Stonetown Circular Trail area (Windbeam Mountain). I didn't find any views from the summit. Near a cairn, there is a large boulder which seems to be the highest point. I descended the north side of the mountain which was much more gradual and then headed along to Big Beach Mountain on trails. I saw three ATVers on the woods road on the northeast side of the mountain.
Climbed up the north side of the hill along the gas line and bushwhacked down the south side. Decent view southwest towards Ilgenstein Rock.
Climbed up the north side and climbed down the east side. Very good views of the city and Ilgenstein Rock just south of the summit.
