Parked at parking area on Lakeside Drive and hiked blue trail which gets close to the peak. Bushwhacked a short distance to a well defined summit. Next headed for JJ4.
From JJ3 continued on blue trail headed SW towards JJ4. As the trail started to turn south and downward started to bushwhack continuing in SW direction. There is a false peak, noted by other hikers, so I circumnavigated on the west side and JJ4 came into view. As you approach the summit the terrain flattens out quite a lot. There was a hunting perch right on the summit.
Parked at the Pheasant Farm and hiked up to the overlook and then continued on woods road to 1st power line cut. Then continued NE toward 2nd power line cut. As per other trip reports I had to pay a ransom of blood to the gods of Upper Pohatcong. Serious brambles, even this time of year, cut up my arms and through my pants. Quite a lot of evidence of hunting stands and posted signs everywhere. Got as close as I could trying my best to avoid posted areas which seemed to traverse the whole mountain at the 2nd power line cut. The consolation was a beautiful day.
