Sunrise Mountain is one of the few NJ 1K mountains that has a road to the top. Despite this, aspiring NJ 1Kers must hike to the summit! Perhaps the most common approach to Sunrise Mountain is from the Stony Lake trailhead in Stokes State Forest. Those who wish to take a more scenic route may hike it from the AT trailhead at Route 206: a 10 mile round trip. The summit of Sunrise Mountain is wide open with views to the East, South, West and an obstructed view to the North.
Early summer morning. Managed to catch every spider web in the county. Parked at Stony Lake, took blue trail for a long time, climbed, met up with the AT to catch the peak. Nice long hike.
