Pochuck Mountain is separated from the rest of the Highlands by the Vernon Valley. The mountain boasts a series of interesting rock outcroppings as well as a pleasant hemlock grove on its western slopes. There are winter views from the summit of the Wallkill Valley and the Vernon Valley.
Pochuck has several summits, with the northern summit being crossed by the Appalachian Trail. Unfortunately for AT hikers, the true summit is south of the AT.
Parked at end of Jenny Layne. Short hike to the top. Followed woods road most of the way, then bushwhacking to the summit.
After Pochuk Mountain, went to Hamburg Mountain High Point.
