So, no trail led to a challenging rock scramble with quick elevation gain. Looked south-east and decided on a south-west climb. Glad for a warm February day but hoping the rattlesnakes weren’t waking up. Some views looking east. Decided on a south-east decent and again a steep scramble.
Parked near the park office and began the day with a steep bushwhack from the col between JJ1 and JJ2. Summitted JJ2 and descended to the observatory and took the road back to the parking lot.
Drove to pull off just north of the Observatory. Hiked up from there. The col between 1 and 2 really is pretty intimidating. I'll go back one day just to ascend from that side.
