Allamuchy Mountain North is the second highest mountain in Allamuchy State Park.
The mountain is viewless when the leaves are up, but offers obstructed views to the east, north, and west in winter time. Thet summit is on the border of Allamuchy State Park and privately owned land, yet access is no problem, since the true summit is public.
Trail Map: NJ DEP map
From Waterloo Mtn. I took the Highlands Trail down to the intersection with the White Trail. I took this until I got to an intersection with some posted signs. Followed an unmarked trail along the posted sign boundary until I got to the summit. I think the actual summit is within the posted signs so I took the large boulder to be the summit as it was close enough.
Started at the trailhead on Cranberry Ledge Road. Took Green to White to bushwhack to the summit. Lots of unmarked trails. Some of the trails on the NYNJTC maps are difficult to find - likely due to the fallen leaves. On the way back, took the well-used trail at the edge of the Scout Reservation (the yellow DO-NOT-ENTER signs made for easy-to-follow trail markers) to White to Green back to trailhead. An easy walk.
