Continued across office parking lot to Jenny jump trail.
Again a lot of blow downs.
Came to false summit and found the actual summit very easily. Had a quick breakfast at the cairn. Headed down and at the false summit noticed the very nice view of the water gap.
Took the stairway from Hope Rd and followed blue/white blazed trail close to the top. Wouldn't be a NJ1Ker without a bushwhack to the summit. Enjoyed a celebratory beverage and reflected a bit at summit rock. Rebuilt cairn and enjoyed the views while I was there before heading back down the mountain.
Coincidentally hiked this mountain right before joining the club and only realized I was so close when checking out Jenny Jump. Had this on my list for a while but came up short and couldn't squeeze it in several times, so I decided to save it for my last.
Thanks Eric for taking the time to create this website and the only New Jersey peakbagging club. Kudos
Started from the Blue/White Trail head parking lot, picnic area to the first overlook, then a short walk to summit. Yes, a fair share of raspberry canes and assorted sticker bushes, but not as bad as expected. Ticks were awful, removed almost 20 as they were making their way up pants leg. The B/W trail itself is a pleasant walk, but unfortunately through a ruined hemlock forest, courtesy of the woolly adelgid, an Asian invasive insect killing hemlocks across the Northeast.
