Parked on Mountain Road by abandoned house and sub-station. A rough road even to this point (with a Prius!). Followed dirt road and power poles to ruins at base and then walked to top. Plenty of dumped debris along the dirt road, too bad, otherwise a nice area. Flickr Pics: http://goo.gl/nGV6S
Followed Brom V's approach exactly except for the ruins at the end. Didn't have it in me after Hasencleaver too. Not sure if I was tired or the weather was getting to me but the hike wasn't as enjoyable as most other NJ1K mountains. Although, I did have fun picking which atv trail to take next.
Parking: Schuber Trail Trailhead (Orange Blazed) @ Ramapo Valley Road (US Route 202)
Hiking Partners: N/A (Solo)
Description: Bagged Rocky Mountain, Ilgenstein Rock, Hasenclever Hill, Mount Defiance, Bald Mountain, and Drag Hill while hiking 25.6 miles through Ramapo County Reservation, Ringwood State Park & Tranquility Ridge County Park. Enjoyed the various mines near Hasenclever Hill, chased a bear 0.25 miles as he was on my trail, bagged 6 peaks in 3 parks, lunch in Bergen County NJ and lunch in Orange County NY, hiked nearly a marathon, and still passed everyone on the trail between MacMillan Reservoir and the parking area on the way back (priceless).
Hiked up Mountain Road from where it becomes a rough Jeep Road just past the derelict house by the lower microwave antenna. Not the prettiest of hikes, but another NJ1K peak and the Bergen County HP... so it was worth something.
