Boulder Pine Peak
Still a foot of snow up in West Milly! This was a great hike along the Old Coal Trail in Waywayanda from P7 parking on Clinton Rd near Bearfort Waters and Project Use. I would estimate it was about 3 miles there and back. I was accompanied by my trusty sidekick Nugget the Beagle. He had a blast plowing through some of the deeper snow drifts.
After finishing up across the street at Boulder Pine we stopped by the car for some water and headed out to Terrace Pond. Phone died along the way so I only got pictures on the way there. We were the only ones at Terrace Pond... for a change. Plenty of snow out there for anyone brave enough to make the trek. ??
Jenny Jump Mountain 1
Started from the parking area just above office and took the long way around Swamp (red) trail to its end. Picked up Spring (blue) trail to Summit (yellow) went north to high point, logged it. Walking off the small rise of the summit it punctured my palm nicely on a small Honey Locust thorn. Cool. Looped Summit trail down to State Park Rd. Then back up Blue and Summit back to the other side. Great Hike.
Jenny Jump Mountain 2
Drove to pull off just north of the Observatory. Hiked up from there. The col between 1 and 2 really is pretty intimidating. I'll go back one day just to ascend from that side.
Jenny Jump Mountain 3
Parked at lot near spring. Entered onto Jenny Jump trail and turned immediately up the hill after the large fallen white oak. Bushwacked the whole thing. Few very steep sections. Also very dense raspberries, Japanese barberry, and multiflora rose. 1 Mile round trip with almost 600' ascent.
Did not feel like fording so took East Shore road to parking area just past Jenning Hollow fire road. Parked and walked back down to cross over bridge so did not have to ford Wanaque River. Took fire road over to where it ran into the yellow Jenning Hollow Trail. Then had to pick route that looked best to whack up to Jenning Mountain Ridge. Many options but choose wisely as is very steep and loose, Picked route that looked like a herd path and it followed the drainage's up. Arrived at the ridge and a cairn but did not look like the true summit. Followed the ridge and ended up at the summit cairn. This is an easy summit to reach but you need to be able to follow a herd path. There are some very steep cliff areas that you do not want to end up in!!!!!! Summit is awesome and is very quiet and peaceful. Jersey has a gem in Jennings Mountain!!!
