Description: At a bare 1,000' Oxford Mountain is the lowest mountain on the NJ1K list, but presents more hiking challenges than mountains hundreds of feet taller.
Oxford Mountain's forests are among the thickest to be found. Vast sections of woods are overgrown with pricker bushes and dense trees. Other sections of forest are extremely rocky. Woods roads are few and far between, dissolve back into the woods, and do not lead to the true summit area.
The southwestern subsummit, Hill 888 (aka, "The Mount of Thorns") lacks any view, but the true summit has obstructed views to the northeast of County House Mountain.
