William Maurer (Hoosier)'s Ascent of Bowling Green Mountain (1381 feet)
Trip Report: Started off at the parking area of the Mahlon Dickerson Reservation north of Weldon Road. Followed the teal blaze of the Highland trail south across Weldon Road and began bushwhacking in an easterly direction passing thru a swampy area before beginning a extended easy climb up the ridge of Bowling Green Mountain. Lots of fern glades followed by near inpentratable laurel thickets before nearing the rock at the summit which is in open woods. No views at summit. Headed back to west slighty off to north side of summit where the laurel was not so thick.
Torn hiking pants on this one, thanks to the laurel thickets.
Also a cell tower just to east of summit.
