William Maurer (Hoosier)'s Ascent of Jennings Mountain (1072 feet)

Trip Report: Hiked in the Sterling Ridge trail from Rte 511 and East Shore Road to Jennings Hollow Trail south branch of loop, stream crossings on Jennings Hollow trail where all but dried up. Once at point where trail turns sharply north I headed directly up the very steep easterly face of Jennings Mtn. between two large outcrops, one to south had a great view back towards Windbeam Mtn and the other peaks of the Stonetown Circular. Continued steeply up a very rocky hillside and came right to the carin which marks the summit. Seems like the large rock just to the west may be a foot or so higher so I climbed up on top of it, before adding a stone to the carin. After bagging the first peak of the day I headed in a northeasterly direction back downhill to the Jennings Hollow trail.
